Measure D passes; What’s next?
It took two full weeks after Election Day for the Santa Cruz County Clerk to declare that Measure D–a sales tax that will fund transportation and environmental projects–was approved by two-thirds of the county voters. The still semi-official results put the Yes votes at 67.46 percent, with roughly seventy-five hundred provisional ballots remaining to sort out, as of Nov 25th.
Measure D was put on the ballot by the Regional Transportation Committee and it was supported by the Land Trust of Santa Cruz. We spoke with Terry Corwin, the Land Trust’s President, about some of what the money will bring to Santa Cruz county and why the Land Trust worked to pass the initiative.
